How to get there |
From the south one starts just east of Schöder (880m). The last 4 km of this climb averages over 11%, which makes it a quite steep and hard climb. The south climb is steep at first and then has a long more flat section, before the last 5-6 km of narrow serpentines to the pass height. The ascent from the north starts in Stein an der Enns (668m) and is almost as steep the last 4 km (around 10%, according to profiles at salite.ch), but this side is easier. |
Other comments |
This is the highest asphalted pass road this far east in the Alps and there are not many white mountains in sight in the Summer around here. It is a nice, quiet and remote pass. It is not easy to guess where the pass is when approaching from the south. There is a café in Schöder.
