How to get there |
The actual climb starts in Mühlbach am Hochkönig (837m) or higher up from the centre (860m) a smaller road should be possible to climb up through the village. If not coming down the Dientner Sattel (1372m), one would start the climb just south of Bischofshofen (552m) with a nice and easy start up to Mühlbach. The climb from Mühlbach (either way) is quite steep, and especially so at the end before the Arthurhaus (1504m) with a long straight ramp up with rows on trees on both sides. If you go up the big parking there should be like 255m of gravel road before you reach the pass just above and since it is not steep it is not problematic (I made it with a road bike even though it was raining). |
Other comments |
It should be quite nice up here with the Mandelwand mountains in good weather as I have seen on photos (not much to see on my rainy visit). Arthurhaus is also a restaurant. I stopped at a nice restaurant to take cover and eat on the start of the climb from Mühlbach.
