How to get there	The Maltatal is long and nice. The climb starts on the south side of the Katschberg/Katschbergpaß (1641m) at Gmünd (741m). The climb is not steep anywhere, but the long climb makes it somewhat demanding nonetheless. The toll road up to the end is free as usual to cyclists. The Kölnbreinspeicher dam building is at 1903m, but the road is asphalted to the upper entrance of the nice round hotel (1932m) (from where the photo was taken).
Other comments	It is a fairly lonely valley and not much on offer along the way up, but the hotel at the top is open in Summer and has great views. I had no problem with the tunnel near the top. Great long descent back the same way afterwards. One of the least steep climbs in my list of worthwhile climbs, but given the length and niceness, this is a classic climb. [BIG 642]
