How to get there | You start the climb in Ponte Marmora (944m) and when coming to the turn-off for the Colle d’Esischie (2366m) at Vernetti (1192m) you go right to Canosio and Valle del Preit. A little after Canosio, you turn right again and here is the nice part of the road with serpentines up to San Giovanni. The last flat 550m are on a good gravel road. | |
Other comments | It is wortwhile to go the actual pass as there are great view there (see photo). The gravel road down the other side should be a little too bad for a road bike. I nearly tried it (I started going down but changed my mind). As it looks all wooded I suspected that there could be water over the road further down and it might well be less good (and I think I heard so from someone too). It will be quicker going back anyway. Another nice pass climb up here is the Colle del Preit (2076m). [IT-CN-1651] |
