How to get there | From the east the climb starts in Cortina d’Ampezzo (1199m) or at Pocòl (1503m) if you are coming down from Passo Giau (2236m) toward Cortina. It is not steep, but a bit long and hard nonetheless. The same goes for the approach from the south at Caprile (1002m), which is a little longer. You start at Cernadoi/Cernadou (1412m) if coming from Passo Pordoi (2239m) or Passo di Campolongo (1876m). The climb starts in Rucava/Reciavé (1309m) if coming from Passo Giau (2232m) or Forcella Staulanza (1770m) via Colle S. Lucia. | |
Other comments | It is a beautiful pass, but not as beautiful as up at Ju de Valparola/Valparora/Passo di Valparòla/Valparolapass (2197m) (see this for more information). It is nicer on the south approach than on the east from Cortina, which is mostly wooded, even though you can see some of the nice peaks at Cinque Torre on the way and there are some nice views lower down below Pocòl. Lodging should not be a problem, but Cortina is more expensive than other villages around. The ladin badiot name for the pass is Ju de Falzares. [IT-BL-2105a] |
