Toward Col de Vizzavona (1163m)
I had reached Corte just after the dark fell, racing over Col d’Ominanda (654m) to try and get as far as possible before the dark. This last day on the island I started from Corte with light rain that soon turned into snow already at 600m altitude. The photo is taken near the Col de Campo di Lupo (824m) pass on the way to Col de Vizzavona (1163m) – the only big pass on a major road on Corsica (the major road connecting Ajaccio and Bastia). Here were warnings that one had to put of snow chains on the cars if one wanted to cross tha pass. Policemen turned people around that did not have chains on their cars.
